RICS Social Impact Award nomination

We’re thrilled to announce that Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa has been shortlisted under the leisure category in the RICS Social Impact Award 2020 in the North West Region. The RICS award is designed to recognise examples of positive and transformational projects in a diverse range of categories, including commercial, education and healthcare sectors. Projects are assessed at a local level, after which regional winners will go on to compete for a UK accolade.

Occupying an enviable location on the edge of Lake Windermere, Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa has recently undergone a remarkable transformation – the biggest in the hotel’s 300-year history – under the watchful eye of Mason Gillibrand Architects.

The re-design and re-configuration of existing accommodation has been coordinated alongside the creation of bold new public spaces, beautifully designed guest rooms and luxurious leisure facilities. An eye-catching, zinc-clad atrium welcomes visitors through a glass-walled lobby into a richly textured and contemporary interior with feature fireplace and floor-to-ceiling window that frames a panoramic view over Windermere. A pristine spa transports guests to a tranquil retreat that’s rooted in the Lakeland landscape and is designed to make the most of the waterfront vistas. New additions to the site include a grill-themed restaurant, lakeside club building and refurbished health club.

All design and construction works have been sensitively delivered in close collaboration with the Lake District National Park Authority.
